Have you ever wondered what it’s like to work in a social media marketing agency? Fakhrun shares what her typical day looks like, working as a Junior Content Producer for Tempt!

How do you start your day?

Every single morning without fail, I must have my cup of coffee! I do this before I start getting ready for work, so I feel awake and ready for the day. Whilst I drink my coffee, I usually read Twitter like it’s my morning newspaper. Along with this, I give TikTok a quick scroll. I feel like these platforms are fun, but they’re also essential for knowing what’s going on in the world and keeping up with the latest trends. I then leave the house to begin my one-hour commute to work, by bus. The journey can be tiring, but this is why I love having a hybrid schedule, to give me a better work-life balance.

What do you do when you get to the office?

Once I’ve said hi to the team, I grab myself a glass of water and then go through my emails and social client inboxes. I then check over Asana and note down my tasks for the day, before our team meeting. During the meeting, we discuss what will be happening in the week ahead. We also have a run-down of all client activity and go through any upcoming exciting new projects. Many of our projects include launch events or new offers to promote, so for these, I’m usually tasked with researching and sourcing appropriate influencers to invite for social coverage and brand awareness. After our team meeting, I catch up with my colleague, Holly, who supports me in managing my tasks for the week, like creating and scheduling weekly social content. This includes creating Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook posts, which support the agency to deliver content for clients following a strategic process.

Can you talk us through your afternoon?

I usually grab lunch in town, as there’s pretty much every option for food in the city center, or I bring myself some lunch in from home, if I’m feeling creative!

After lunch, I might have a catch-up meeting with my manager, Beccy, to check if I am okay with the tasks I’ve been given for the week. We also run through any questions I have. A few tasks will include sourcing media lists for different cities, booking in influencers, or collating industry data for Tempt’s social content. Before I finish for the day, I make sure I have my most important tasks boxed off, or I look through content schedules to ensure everything is up to date.

What do you like most about your job?

What I like most about my job is having the chance be freely creative with my ideas, without having to worry. By this, I mean the Tempt Team are always open to new, fun ideas that are relevant to the brand personality and our clients. What I enjoy most at work is when I have the opportunity to create fun videos, whether it’s for our agency or for clients. Some of these may include a playful team video or showcasing food and drinks for a bar client. My team is always supportive and encouraging towards my growth at work, which is very important for my apprenticeship journey and career development overall.
