Here at Tempt Marketing, we’re big supporters of small and local independent businesses, and we champion some of the brightest and most promising upcoming businesses in the North of England. We love to work with passionate business owners that have big plans for the future and to celebrate this, we’ve put together a list of some of the businesses we think you should be watching in 2020.
Foodinate is making a big difference on the issue of food poverty, teaming up with some of the North’s biggest and best food and drink businesses. Run by the lovely Caroline, Foodinate is a social enterprise that was set up to try and help those living with food poverty in the UK. Foodinate works by collaborating with restaurants, venues and catering companies to fundraise and provide for those in need.
Since launching in 2013, Foodinate has partnered with businesses such as The Alchemist, Crazy Pedros, Hip Hop Chip Shop, Manchester Cathedral and Hotel Football. These partnerships mean that anything on their menus that is marked with a Foodinate icon, will provide a nutritious meal to someone in need within your community. If you find yourself in any of these partnered restaurants, keep an eye out for the Foodniate icon!
Stockport based mini market, The Good Life, is a business that is paving the way for waste free markets and stores. It is well loved within the community and we can see why!
The Good Life works on a package free policy, keeping plastic to an absolute minimum and often omits plastic and packaging completely. Head in with your own bags and Tupperware, fill up with what you need and head home having made a difference to your planet. The attention to detail is phenomenal and owner, Shelley Brown is passionate and committed to The Good Life’s core values, making sure every business decision and offering helps the environment a little more with every customer.

A good friend of ours, Georgie Glass is a local, Manchester based photographer, working with some of the city’s biggest and best loved brands and chains. Georgie shoots food, drinks, people and events – her work is just dreamy and her food photography is sure to set your mouth watering.
You can find Georgie’s work gracing the Instagram feeds of some of your favourite restaurants, bars and Manchester businesses – Thaikhun, Rosso, The Botanist and Just Bee Drinks to name only a few. We work with Georgie on a lot of our client shoots such as Bar Hutte, Vermillion and Evelyns, she’s simply fantastic.
One of our favourite places to grab a healthy and beautifully presented meal or quick treat. The Garden in Hale is one of the most beautiful hangouts in Cheshire and has the perfect laid back local neighbourhood vibe. Pop in to try some of their delicious vegan treats or dishes, plus they’re dog friendly, so you can even treat your pet to a cheeky bit of brunch.
What we love about The Garden is that they’ve really maximised on their brand by offering various events, such as yoga and health and wellbeing workshops, as well as healthy blogs and recipes.
