Cara is the newest member of team Tempt. Also known as our ‘Comms Dynamo’, she is a talented copywriter, bringing a wealth of writing expertise and sharp media instincts from her previous role as a journalist at Sleeper Magazine. Cara has worked on a variety of client accounts, including Stretched, Red Hall Hotel and Victoria Warehouse.
Take a look at what a typical working day for Cara looks like…
How do you start your day?
The first thing I do once I’m up is make breakfast – I literally can’t function until I’ve had something to eat and drink in the morning! I’m ashamed to say that I do a hefty bit of scrolling whilst I eat, and justify it by saying I’m catching up on goings on in the world. Once I’m ready for the day, I walk to the office, which is usually a nice peaceful moment before the busyness of the day. More often than not I stop off at a coffee shop on the way for my morning matcha – Federal and Morning Glory are some of my faves!
What do you do when you get to the office?
First order of business is always to check emails and deal with anything urgent, then check all the social accounts I manage, engaging with any overnight tags, comments, or messages. Once this is done, I’ll work up a to-do list for the day, with some essential tasks and some ‘nice-to-haves’.
What does a typical morning look like?
I work across marketing and PR projects, so I’ll often dedicate the morning to one of these, and the afternoon to the other.
Usually I’ll start things off with social content planning, which involves creating and scheduling the next batch of content for each account I work on. I’m usually trying to come up with some new post concepts, as well as bring to life some tried-and-tested favourites. I do plenty of caption writing, and sometimes I’ll liaise with Hannah, our Content Executive, to see what videos she’ll be sending my way that week.
Talk us through your afternoon.
If it’s been a socials morning, it will often be a PR afternoon. Because of the nature of PR work, some weeks can be much busier than others, for example if we’ve got a launch event coming up, or we’re kickstarting with media outreach. On any given afternoon, I might be writing up a press release, reaching out to influencers with invites, or liaising with journalists about upcoming coverage and features.
When the mid-afternoon slump hits (if you know, you know), I sometimes like to suggest filming a TikTok with the team. It shakes the afternoon up a bit and it’s always fun to work on the Tempt socials.
What do you like most about your role?
I love the varied nature of my role! I work across so many clients, and on so many different hospitality, wellness and lifestyle projects. It’s so nice to be able to switch between tasks and always be getting stuck into something new.
I also love the team at Tempt – we’re all super supportive and always up for listening to new ideas.
